QUESTION : DO YOU PROVIDE SEWING MACHINES ?
Sewing machines are available to rent for classes on request , there may be an extra charge. We do NOT provided sewing machines for the beginners sewing workshops - There's not point learning on ours and having a different one at home :)
We recommend the IKEA SY , SINGER 8280/1507 , Brother LS14 or John Lewis larger coloured machines (Janome) as beginner - intermediate machines. (Click the model numbers above to visit local suppliers websites)
MINI size machines are not suitable for day to day sewing and are designed as repair machines only. We welcome machines of any age , as long as they have two the squares on the label (meaning it is double insulated) if you are unsure pop us a message with your model number.
QUESTION : IS THERE ANYTHING ELSE I NEED ?
We recommend you bring the following basic kit to your lesson as shown in the photo below ,
FABRIC SCISSORS , PAPER SCISSORS , PINS , SAFETY PINS , GREASEPROOF PAPER , CHALK PENCILS OR VANISHING INK PEN , RULER , SPARE MACHINE NEEDLES , BOBBINS , THREAD , SEAM RIPPER , MEASURING TAPE.

During wet weather we don't allow wet coats or shoes into the classroom - please bring a pair of slippers or a change of footwear !
QUESTION : ARE THERE ANY REFRESHMENTS ?
Refreshments are available to purchase from our venues including WAFFLES ! DESSERTS ! NACHOS !
QUESTION : HOW MUCH ARE LESSONS ?
Each course is payable up front and the prices for each one can be found in our webshop or under courses on the tab above.
All class prices are already subsidised by grants and sponsors.
QUESTION : WHAT DO WE MAKE ?
In the beginners crash course we cover - How to switch the machine on - what the bobbin is and how it works - How to make a basic pattern and make a cushion cover to take home.
All other classes have a full list of what is covered on the courses tab above.
We do cover a huge range of sewing techniques from dressmaking to free motion quilting... however not all courses are available all of the time. Our workshops are ever changing so if you don't find what you are looking for , pop us a message to be added to our newsletter list or check back again in a few weeks.
QUESTION : ARE THE LESSONS FORMAL ?
Not at all ! Occasionally when we are learning about a particular technique that needs demonstrating etc we will have 10-15 minutes of teaching as a class , the majority of our classes are step by step with teacher guidance , we do love to chatter and swap tips !
QUESTION : WHAT AGE DO YOU HAVE TO BE ? ARE THERE KIDS SESSIONS ?
All Stitch Bridgend Kids Club sessions are suitable for age 4+ , Teenagers age 11+
Evening classes & workshops are aimed at age 16+ unless stated on the class poster.

QUESTION : DO YOU DO CLOTHING ALTERATIONS ?
Yes we do ! However we currently have an average waiting time of 3-4 months ! FULLY BOOKED ! CLOSED UNTIL JANUARY 2019

QUESTION : WHAT HAPPENS IF A CLASS IS CANCELLED ?
In the last few years we have only ever had to to cancel classes once. If a class is cancelled or changed you will receive an email , text message and where possible phone call plus all social media will be updated to reflect this ahead of time. Usually the class will resume on a different day ( depending on venue availability ) or hours will be added to the end of the following class , if this is not suitable for you a part refund for the missed class will be issued in the form of a voucher code.
QUESTION : DO YOU REPAIR MACHINES ?
We do not at this time repair or service machines , we highly recommend GRAHAM as a registered retailer.
